District 9 Overachiever Ladybug
Award
At District Days in February, the Overachiever Ladybug
Award was presented to the Outstanding
Collegiate Officer in District 9. This year's winner is Christina Johnson,
Beta Beta. Christina served
as the VP of Membership Education and was nominated by Education Coaching Team
Member Kristin
Bremer.
According to Bremer, "Chris is the most dedicated VP of Membership Education
that I have had the
opportunity to work with thus far. She holds herself and the chapter to
very high standards and is willing
to do anything to help new members in their learning process.
"Chris deserves this recognition because she is more dedicated than any member I
have met in a long
time. I have been truly impressed by her level of responsibility,
attention to detail, and loyalty to Alpha
Sigma Alpha and all its values. She gives her all as a member and as an
officer. Even when her school
schedule gets hectic, she finds time to take care of all of her
responsibilities."
District 9 Super Hero Award
The Super Hero Award was presented to the Outstanding
Chapter Advisor in District 9 at District Days in
Topeka, KS. This year's recipient is Dr. Ann Rowlette, Phi Phi Chapter
Advisor.
Dr. Rowlette attends every chapter meeting, weekly Executive Board meetings, and
each ritual the ASA
women perform. Sometimes she even attends their sisterhood activities!
The women of Phi Phi wrote, "Dr. Rowlette is always available for us. She
is available by phone or e-mail
at any time. She is in contact with the officers and members on a regular
basis.
"She is an extraordinary woman who has served as our advisor for 29 years.
She was an Alpha at NWMSU
and has a true love for Phi Phi Chapter. Dr. Rowlette is retiring at the
end of the Spring 2005 semester.
We will be sad to see her go. She will be impossible to replace.
"She is a woman who truly represents what Alpha Sigma Alpha stands for.
She is a 'woman of poise and
purpose.' She is intelligent, caring, and has a strong personality.
Dr. Rowlette has impacted many lives.
She truly has an 'Alpha Heart,' and our chapter believes that there is no better
candidate for this award than
Dr. Ann Rowlette."
District 9 Go-Getter Alpha Sig
Award
The District 9 Go-Getter Award for the Outstanding
Alumnae Officer was awarded to Johanna Gardner, ZZ and Greater Kansas City
Alumnae Chapter. Johanna has served her alumnae chapter as president, vice
president, philanthropic and ways and means, and treasurer and
directory/newsletter.
Members of the KC Alumnae Chapter wrote, "With Johanna's leadership, our alumnae
group doubled our dues-paying members by getting and staying in touch with
members. She computerized our alumnae directory, treasurer's books and
alumnae newsletter.
"Johanna is also responsible for improving member satisfaction by restructuring
our alumnae chapter by-laws and dues with no more 'passing the hat' at each
meeting.
"Johanna has full-time jobs outside of ASA, as wife and mother to two sons,
professional career with Lee Jeans Co. for over 20 years and community
volunteer. She has been active in her church for over 20 years and
children's schools for over 15 years, serving as chair of numerous committees
for both. She also volunteers for many charitable organizations.
"Johanna was overwhelmingly nominated for the Kansas City Panhellenic Woman of
the Year and has been referred by our members as one of the 'key backbone
members' of the KC Alumnae Chapter. The collegians and anyone who meets
Johanna, know that ASA is a FUN and wonderful lifetime commitment!"

District 9 Outstanding District
Volunteer Award
The District 9 Outstanding Volunteer Award was
presented to Kristin Bremer, Zeta Pi, Education Coaching Team Member.
Kristin was nominated by Keri Kemmerer, Education Coaching Team Leader for D9.
Kristin works with the Beta Beta, Northern Colorado and Denver Alumnae Chapters.
On her nomination form, Keri wrote, "Kristin goes above and beyond the
expectations of a team member. She takes the time to support the members
of her chapters in any way that they are in need. Kristin is a wonderful
asset to our team. She is a great example of what an ASA volunteer should
be."
Keri continued by writing, "Kristin goes above and beyond by continuing to
search out ideas to help her chapters with Advantage. She has
outstanding communication with the members of her chapters. Kristin even
makes visits and is always willing to offer support to members. Last, but
not least, Kristin is a wonderful person and is extremely thoughtful in her
words and actions."
